It was the sort of crazy idea that could have only been thought up on a quiet Friday afternoon. It came to me in a flash (or at least a slight flicker) of inspiration, an epic trek along the Norfolk coast to discover the forgotten gems of our arcade past. Cromer, Wells, and Hunstanton (we also did Great Yarmouth again on a separate trip). It was going to need a bit of planning to sort out the trains and buses but what the heck, we were on a mission. So as we boarded the train to Cromer at 8:23am, we prepared ourselves for a day of sun, sea, and searching. Ah, how good it felt to be heading out of Norwich, but all was not right with the train. Why was there such an annoying buzzing noise coming from the doors in our carriage? We found out as we stopped at Wroxham station and were asked to leave the train as it has a faulty locking mechanism on one of the carriage doors. Oh no, our journey stopped a few miles from Norwich. This was not good as I had planned the trip with an almost miltary-like precision. There was only a certain amount of time at each location and this was going to throw the schedule off. Oh well, we just had to wait for the arranged transport to take us to our destination (which seemed to take for ever). But eventually we were on the way again, only this time in the back of a cab with four other passengers. The rest of the journey is covered on the map shown below. Please click on a destination to find out what happened (Cromer and Sheringham are covered on one link). Hope you enjoy our voyage of discovery. |
