The Fun Palace had a cabinet that at first glance appeared to be Space Invaders. On closer examination I found it was a Space Invaders Silver Anniversary Edition cabinet, with both Space Invaders and Qix built-in. Of course I couldn't resist having a quick go on 'vaders (which cost 50p) and also Puzzle Bobble (an enjoyable game but the joystick was sticking badly moving right so it was quite a challenge too). After indulging in a little retro action I took a little video of the arcade (check the imbedded player at the bottom of the page for the YouTube version - or use the link to download a copy from this site) and then headed down onto the beach. I took some photographs of the beach, the sea, the pier, boats, you know the normal coastal things. You can view these in the panel above.
I did check out the 'other' arcade in Lowestoft, Bridge Amusements. Although it was near the bridge, the room full of fruit machines didn't provide any amusement so I quickly left. And it only left me to walk back up the high street to the bus station to catch the X1 onto Gorleston and the next leg of my coastal trip.
Getting funny looks (again) outside the Fun Palace
